Launch of technology transfer initiative to grow UK’s high-tech engineering capabilities

A new initiative, that will enable the transfer of technologies and capabilities within the Silverstone Technology Cluster to other sectors, launches today.

The announcement, made by independent research and innovation agency Axillium, at the Silverstone Technology Cluster (STC) Annual Showcase Conference this morning (21/05/2019), outlines plans to build new collaborations between high-performance engineering companies.

The Dual-Use Collaboration initiative, led by Axillium, will identify opportunities for technology transfer from the Silverstone Technology Cluster into other sectors. The aim is to develop the UK’s capability in high-tech engineering, in order to boost UK economic growth.

Founder and Director of Innovation and Investment at Axillium, Will Searle said: “We have branched out beyond our HQ in Daventry and set up an additional office hub at Silverstone Park, because we recognise the value of the cluster, with its focus on advanced engineering, software and digital technology. We will be working with organisations of all sizes to develop meaningful technology challenges that will be attractive to high-tech companies operating within the cluster and a 100-mile radius of Silverstone.”

The aim is to build relationships, new collaborations and partnerships to deliver large-scale technology transfer projects, financed through both public and private funding.

Axillium has joined the STC in order to support a range of high-tech companies within the cluster and beyond. Their new office will be based in the Sports and Engineering Hub at Silverstone Park.

Since 2007, Axillium has established a significant track-record, delivering a £350m portfolio of grant funded research and development. This has covered the automotive, aerospace and defence markets as well as public sector and academia.
